About me
Hello I’m Amber, a London based yoga teacher. I’m trained in Vinyasa Flow/Astanga/Yoga therapy & CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which I draw on these teachings to make my classes more mindful.
I always bring both stillness and fire to the mat. My flow classes tend to be strong and playful - yet always meditative. I always encourage you to take a journey every time you step onto the mat – to explore your own body and practice, and to have fun doing it. Expect to leave smiling…and perhaps a little sweaty
My Journey
It all started around 4 years ago when I had my first panic anxiety attack. At this point in my life I was working as an actress & model in London which at the best of times can be be quite full on and intense. In my early 20’s I really wasn’t taking care of my mental health, I would exercise excessively, eat unhealthily, never allow myself the time to slow down and as a result became very burnt out. I had always done the odd bit of yoga here & there but if the class weren’t strong or sweaty enough I would be so angry that I’d wasted an hour where I could have been getting a ‘better workout’ somewhere else.
When it came to a point that my mental health needed addressing I decided that alongside my counselling I would try again with yoga but commit to it with a more mindful approach. I can now look back three years later and really see the huge beneficially impact it has made in every aspect in my life .
Yoga has allowed me:
To listen
To connect to my body & mind
To see myself & others more clearly
To slow down
To be respectful
To become a better version of myself
For someone who frequently suppresses emotions and any issues that arise, yoga has offered me a safe space to be able to open up slowly, work on myself and grow as a human.
I trained at Sampoorna Yoga School in Goa, India, Where I completed my 200hr Vinyasa/ Ashtanga training, It was magical and I grew so much as a person during these few weeks. When I came back to London I knew I wanted to teach, I had such a strong desire to share the transformative knowledge that I had learnt.
I think it’s so important as a yoga teacher to keep learning and developing your skills. I’m always deepening my practice and studying where I can, It’s a never ending discovery and we each have the capacity to continue to learn and grow. I recently completed a Yoga Therapy immersion course with the wonderful Lisa Sanfilippo at TriYoga in London. I learnt how to incorporate yoga therapy skills into my classes which I hope allows me to teach in a more mindful & bespoke way for my students.
For me, yoga brings me such joy, it is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to share my passion & knowledge with others and I hope we meet on the mat soon!
